This picture was titled "Echos of February 2003" and was just one of many taken of a fire that ripped through one of Emporim's business blocks on the night of February 28, 2003. These pictures gave Laurie her start in the newspaper field. The picture was entered in a contest held annually by the International Library of Photography www.picture.com in October of 2003. She placed as a semi-finalist and the picture is printed in the hardcover edition "A Timeless Journey" which was printed for the year 2004.
